Capital City Cheesecake in Takoma Park

I’ve mentioned a few times that spending money is definitely not one of my favorite activities.  When the dark cloud of auto maintenance expenditures loomed over my cheapskate head, I found a silver lining in Capital City Cheesecake.  I took my car to Old Town Auto Services Center in Takoma Park for routine maintenance.  Capital City Cheesecake is only a block away so I decided to have a late breakfast.
The atmosphere is that of a bohemian coffee house.  There’s comfortable couch and cushy chair seating on the bottom two levels with the cafe counter and dining area on the third level.  The breakfast offerings were simple egg sandwiches offered on either bagels or English muffins and a full coffee menu.  I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on an English muffin.  To keep my stomach from rumbling too heavily, I ordered a miniature key lime cheesecake to keep me occupied while I waited.

Before I try a new restaurant, I usually check out the reviews on urbanspoon and yelp to see if there are any ‘must haves’ and/or ‘must avoids’ so I have a pretty good idea of what I want before I arrive.  The flagship items of Capital City Cheesecake are, surprise surprise, the cheesecakes.  The reviews are overall positive, but I noticed one that complained of the small ‘bite-size’ cheesecakes and how they felt one bite wasn't worth the cost.  Whoever wrote that must have quite a gaping maw because it took me five bites to finish mine.  Granted, when I encounter something as precious as key lime cheesecake, I eat it slowly and savor every second instead of my usual ‘eat like the world is going to end in two seconds’ style of eating.  I enjoyed it so much, I ordered the berry lemon and coconut cream minis for Ms. Classy and I to have later.
The sandwich was simple and satisfying.  Plenty of melted cheddar cheese, a sausage patty with a crispy outside and a juicy, mildly spicy inside.  I’ve had more extravagant breakfast sandwiches, but at more extravagant prices.
I will be drop by whenever Ms. Classy and I have a hankering for sensibly sized cheesecakes or whenever I’m singing the ‘gotta sink money into my car’ blues. Capital City Cheesecake is located at 7071 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park MD, 20912 Phone: 301-270-7260.

  1. Haven't seen this shop when I visited a friend in Takoma City. Hmmm, looks like it's a nice place to dine in, huh? I'll probably pay some visit in this yummy looking cafe when I travel around Takoma City.
